Training and Supervision at Relational Alchemy
At Relational Alchemy, we are proud to mentor the next generation of culturally responsive, emotionally intelligent therapists. Our associates—pre-licensed Marriage and Family Therapists and Psychological Associates—receive weekly one-on-one supervision from Dr. Ingrid Solano, PhD, a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in trauma, diversity, creative identity, and expansive relationship models (ENM, Poly, Kink, Queer).
Our training model blends clinical excellence with emotional depth. We emphasize:
- Evidence-based and measurement-informed care
- Cultural fluency and inclusive practice
- Empathy, adaptability, and nonjudgmental presence
We believe great therapists don’t just apply techniques—they listen deeply, think critically, and respond with both skill and heart.
Many clients are seeking space to talk openly about their sexuality, yet for newer therapists in particular, these conversations can feel intimidating or unfamiliar. It’s not uncommon to feel unsure about what questions to ask, how to respond thoughtfully, or how to navigate such a sensitive area with care. There can be concerns about being perceived as judgmental, inexperienced, or even intrusive, along with understandable anxieties about managing one’s own reactions in the moment.
Thoughts may arise like, “What if I say the wrong thing?” or “What if I don’t know how to help?” Others may quietly wonder, “What if I feel uncomfortable—or they do?” These concerns are deeply human and reflect a genuine desire to show up responsibly and respectfully for clients. At the same time, they can sometimes make it harder to initiate important conversations about sexuality—conversations that many clients are hoping, often silently, to have.
“Teaching is a true passion of mine. I consider it an honor to guide therapists-in-training not only toward competence, but toward mastery that reflects compassion, curiosity, and deep respect for the human experience.”
